FarmersDirect Coffee was founded by four entrepreneurs who want to improve the coffee world and Eco Direct Koffie, as the North American provider, shares the same goals and philosophies. We produce the best sustainable coffee in a sustainable way, with a fair price for the farmer and the market. We do this by throwing the current system overboard and using the most innovative techniques. Using data and blockchain technology we help farmers reduce costs and improve their harvest. By doing so, we’re promoting a fully traceable and transparent coffee chain in an inclusive way.
Insight into origin, transport and production of the coffee beans
So, from our philosophy, we work completely transparently. A clear eye on the coffee chain, so you can see who the coffee farmer is, and which way the beans have travelled. Through the QR code on the packaging the entire process becomes transparent: from the green bean to the black gold in the cup.

The Coffee Barometer of 2021 paints a picture of coffee farmers worldwide living far below the poverty line. The Coffee Barometer is a report published for the sixth time in 2021. While coffee companies and retailers earn billions from coffee consumption, poverty among farmers continues to grow, as production take place below cost price. Farmers continue to hope for better times. And that is the pattern FarmersDirect Coffee wants to break.
Contributing to the farmer’s living environment
Due to the lack of knowledge, insufficient attention is paid to soil and bean depletion and to climate change. This could result in 50% of the coffee sector no longer being suitable for coffee cultivation by 2050. FarmersDirect Coffee therefore wants to make a substantial contribution to the coffee farmer, their welfare, well-being and living environment. By means of innovations, we aim to enable the coffee farmer to generate more income in a sustainable manner. A special App allows us to share data on weather, nutrients, soil conditions and prices. Access to such information is essential to achieve a better coffee world from within and we make this possible.

Trust is the fundamental currency of commerce. I have to trust you in order to do a transaction with you. Most trust is ‘manufactured’ by middlemen (traders, banks, lawyers). An expensive and tamperable way of doing business.
Along the way data can be manipulated to benefit individual parties. With the multiple steps between farmer and consumer most coffee farms are loss-making. Farmers deserve better. With blockchain technology we can bridge the Trust Gap and truly provide Farm to Cup coffee.

If you’re a coffee purchaser, then you’ve probably been confronted with a non-transparent chain that many parties are part of. We think this entire coffee chain could be different: more honest, more sustainable and shorter. We support the farmers with relevant date regarding weather conditions, soil and more, for an efficient growth of the coffee beans. In doing so, we ensure a higher return and pay the coffee farmer a fair price for the coffee beans.
We buy our coffee beans directly from the coffee farmers without the intervention of traders. This allows the farmer to get a larger slice of the cake. But we take it a step further: at FarmersDirect Coffee, coffee farmers participate in our business. That way they share along in the results. After all, without the coffee farmer, there would be no artisanal cup of coffee.
Purchasing from cooperatives across the coffee belt
Coffee beans originate from all over the world, from Africa and Asia to South and Central America. To assure a constant quality of supply, FarmersDirect Coffee seeks collaborations with cooperatives in various countries. Depending on the country, these may be larger or smaller cooperatives. The farmers who are members of these cooperative often have smaller coffee plantations. To strengthen their position, they set up their own cooperative. In the end this is of course, less expensive and more efficient. And these cooperatives work directly with FarmersDirect Coffee.
Better Harvest by sharing data
We go far beyond just that. We help farmers in doing their business cleverly and more sustainable in many other areas as well. And all this digitally, transparent and with the help of data and blockchain. Through our special app, farmers receive information about weather, harvest times, sustainable pest control and efficient watering. In cooperation with NGO’s (organizations that are independent of the government) they receive continuous training to work with the app. That way, our farmers get a better harvest per square meter and their yield is higher. And because of this we are able to offer the best coffee, transparent and sustainable, at competitive prices
